Mentoring Program for Young Men Starts in New Rochelle

The program is sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle in partnership with New Rochelle High School.

Mentoring Program for Young Men Starts in New Rochelle

Passport to Manhood, a mentoring program for adolescent males, will start at 6 p.m. Thursday at New Rochelle High School.

The , in partnership with , offers the program to teach and promote responsibility, reinforce behavior and develop character.

Project Director Nichole Shellman said studies across the country reveal that minority males perform lower than their peers.

She said the program addresses critical issues young men face during the passage of time from boyhood and manhood. Those issues include ethics, decision making, wellness, fatherhood, employment, cooperation and conflict, diverstiy, relationships and self-esteem.

Shellman said the evening will be a good opportunity for young men, their parents and potential mentors to be introduced to the Passport to Manhood program.
