Ambulance Struck Head-On In North Fork Crash During Snowstorm: Police
BREAKING: Snow-covered, slick roads caused the accident, police said.

GREENPORT, NY — Saturday's snowstorm led to a Greenport crash during which an ambulance was hit head-on by the unlicensed driver of an SUV, police said.
According to Southold Town Police Chief Martin Flatley, the accident, which took place at 11:37 a.m. a quarter mile east of Chapel Lane County Road 48 in Greenport, was "caused by snow-covered, slick roads."
Raul Lopez Gonzalez, 39, of Central Falls, Rhode Island was driving in the SUV with his sons, 16 and 12, police said.

The Cutchogue Fire Department ambulance was responding back to the fire department from Eastern Long Island Hospital, when Lopez Gonzalez lost control of a 2004 GMC SUV and ran into the path of the ambulance, police said.
Lopez Gonzalez and his sons were treated for their injuries by Greenport Fire Department, Southold Fire Department, Cutchogue Fire Department, East Marion Fire Department, and a SUNY Stony Brook ambulance, police said.

Neither of the passengers in the Cutchogue ambulance were injured, police said.
Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
Lopez Gonzalez was issued a summons for unlicensed operation, a violation, police said.
