Asleep At the Wheel: Woman Crashes into Tree, Hydrant

The accident took place Saturday on Cases Lane in Cutchogue, police said.

NORTH FORK, NY - An Orient woman, 24, fell asleep at the wheel Saturday and was involved in a car accident, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the accident took place at 6:30 a.m. on Route 25 and Cases Lane in Cutchogue when the woman fell asleep and hit a tree and fire hydrant.

Cutchogue Fire Department rescue transported the woman to Eastern Long Island Hospital with minor injuries; the car was towed from the scene, police said.
