Shannan Gilbert's Sister Murders Their Mother: Cops

The sister of Shannan Gilbert, who disappearance in 2010 led to the discovery of 11 sets of human remains near Gilgo Beach, is accused of murdering their mother on Saturday, police in upstate Ellenville said Sunday.
The body of 52-year-old Mari Gilbert was found inside the apartment she shared with her daughter, 27-year-old Sarra Elizabeth Gilbert, on Saturday afternoon.
Sarra Elizabeth Gilbert was located a short time later and taken into police custody. She was charged with second degree murder and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police did not say how Mari Gilbert was killed.
A search for Shannan Gilbert, a 24-year-old sex worker, first led to the bodies of four other prostitutes, all of whom were strangled and stuffed in burlap bags. A total of 11 sets of human remains, including Gilbert's, were found along Ocean Parkway. Police have been searching for a serial killer ever since.
