Tankers Race to Scene of Large Fire at Cutchogue Landfill
Firefighters headed to the Cox Lane facility to battle a fire that sent clouds of black smoke into the sky.
CUTCHOGUE, NY - Firefighters rushed to the scene of a large blaze at the Southold Town landfill on Friday.
The fire broke out just after 3 p.m. at the facility on Cox Lane, with Cutchogue Fire Department on the scene and tankers from the Mattituck Fire Department and Southold Fire Department also called to help battle the blaze.
The cause of the fire was not immediately identified and rescue officials at the scene said it was not clear if anyone had been injured.
