Just as apples and stripped bass have their prime season, so too do potholes. They are predictable, unavoidable and a sometimes dangerous rite of passage on the North Fork.
These gravelly, asphalt mini graves are the scourge of any commute, spilling coffee and jarring your teeth at every opportunity.
Area roads have taken a beating this winter with the freezing and unfreezing of asphalt, which creates stress, not to mention, the scrapping and pounding of snow plows as they cleared roadways after 'Hercules' dumped inches of snow earlier this month.
The net result: The roads in the area need fixing.
