Local Kids Shoot Hoops in Free Throw Competion

11 local children and teens will have the chance to compete at West Point Military Academy.

More than 60 boys and girls competed in the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship, hosted at the Trinity Regional School in East Northport by Fr. Thomas A. Judge Knights of Columbus Council 6893.

Of the competitors, 11 were crowned local champions in their age groups, earning the right to compete at the district level.

Each of these winners will compete in the district competition to be held Feb. 13, at Trinity Regional School, Fifth Avenue in East Northport, with an eye toward moving on to the state and international levels. The New York State finals competition will be held at the West Point Military Academy in April.

The winners include:

  • Caitlin Bahr, 9
  • Nicholas Fuggini, 9
  • Paige Buchstein, 10
  • Jack Schelin , 10
  • Madison Mullman, 11
  • Jack Eagers, 11. Eagers earned a perfect score.
  • Nick Browne, 12
  • Caitlin Cavanaugh, 13
  • Erik Madsen, 13
  • Allison Arleo, 14
  • Matthew Rooney, 14
