is going before the Northport Zoning Board on Wednesday to seek a full liquor license as well as a permit to host live music.

"We want to make our place a full restaurant, basically," said Owner Artie Berke, "We're the oldest pizzeria in Northport right now and we'd like to stay here for another 10 years."

Berke said he would like to host small music acts such as a singer and guitarist and serve more than just wine and beer. He is also seeking a removal of variances that require him to reapply bi-annually for an indoor seating permit and annually for an outdoor seating permit. He expects some public opposition to his request.

"I have heard the rumbling that there will be alot of people against us at the meeting," he said. "Someone is spreading a rumor that I am making my family pizzeria and restaurant into a bar."

The Zoning Board meeting takes place on Wednesday, June 27, in Northport Village Hall at 7 p.m.
