Police Log: Teen Arrested After Pointing Laser Gun at Officer's Face

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Thursday, Sept. 8

At 9:35 p.m., police received a report of an electrical fire at John W. Engeman Theater. It was determined that a faulty electrical outlet short-circuited and caused a light smoke condition. The Northport Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

At 8:16 p.m., Sean Bowman, 25, of East Northport, was charged with felony DWI after he was pulled over on Laurel Avenue for speeding and failure to keep right. He was additionally charged with operating a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, no/expired insurance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

At 9:45 p.m., police say a 17-year-old Northport male pointed a laser gun in an officer’s face and eye on Woodbine Avenue. The teen was arrested Sunday at 6:54 p.m. and was charged with second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment on Sandy Hollow Road. (photo of laser pointer shown above)

Sunday, Sept. 11

At 8:03 p.m., a man requested a police report because he ex-girlfriend had texted him on Scudder Avenue.
