Police: Neighbor Dispute Leads to Assault Charge in Nyack

A 44-year-old Nyack man was charged with assault Monday after he punched a Nyack neighbor in the face during a dispute, according to Orangetown police.

Richard J. Apostle, 44, of 27 Summit St., Nyack, faces a Sept. 11 hearing in Nyack Village Court following a 4:20 p.m. incident which police said stemmed from Apostle arguing with a neighbor over some property.

Police were called to Summit Street to investigate a report of a neighbor dispute. Police said they found that a 51-year-old neigbhor of Apostle's had been punched in the face, causing a great deal of swelling to the left eye that required treatment at Nyack Hospital.

Apostle was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault. He was later released by police pending the court hearing.
