Carnegie Library To Be Moved July 24

The historic building will be moved from its current Lake Street location in Patchogue and taken to a temporary location near Patchogue Village's sewage treatment plant.

The Library's is the property of the .

The building will be moved at midnight to avoid traffic and potential complications with the hospital across the street, said Village Trustee Tom Ferb and Patchogue Village Mayor Paul Pontieri at Monday's Village Board of Trustees meeting.

Ferb said the Library will be secured, boarded up and insured until the final location is confirmed.

Additions to the historic building have since been demolished such as its , but the original section of the building is being preserved.
