The Colonel Josiah Smith Chapter NSDAR held its annual luncheon on June 6th, 2015, at Bellport Country Club. At this event, chapter photographs and articles dating back to 1920, the original bylaws, and a framed copy of the charter were displayed in celebration of the chapter’s 95th Anniversary. Three new members—Laura Miller, Mary Abate and Lindsay Davis—were installed before luncheon guests were treated to an entertaining presentation of “The Heart as a Decorative Design in Early American Homes” by Southampton Colony Chapter NSDAR Regent Gerri MacWhinnie. Mr. Bob Rogers, Commander of Amvets Post 111 in Patchogue, was the lucky winner of the Chapter Quilt Fundraiser Raffle. The luncheon concluded with a performance by the Heart of Long Island Chorus, who treated guests to a cappella (“barbershop” style) versions of songs from the ‘40s, ’50s, and ‘60s, finishing with a moving rendition of “God Bless America.” It was truly a wonderful afternoon.
