UPDATE: Police ID Driver Critically Hurt in E. Patchogue Crash
The 29-year-old was ejected through the sunroof of his 2015 Audi Tuesday afternoon.

A 29-year-old Mastic man is in critical condition after he was ejected through the sunroof of his car in a crash in East Patchogue Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, Robert Hommel was driving 2015 Audi west on Sunrise Highway at a high rate of speed when he passed a marked police vehicle and crashed into the Hospital Road cement column at about 2:20 p.m.
Hommel was ejected out of the car through the sunroof, which was open at the time of the crash, police said.
Hommel, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was listed in critical condition.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at (631) 852-6555.
