EAST SETAUKET, N.Y.– On Monday, June 30, 2014, Suffolk County District Court Judge Stephen Ukeiley welcomed the endorsement of the Independence Party of New York.

“I am honored to have this endorsement,” Ukeiley said. “I am grateful to State and County Chairman Frank MacKay, Brookhaven Town Chair David Shelton and the screening committee for their support of my re-election."

Among Judge Ukeiley's accomplishments since taking the bench in 2009 are:

  • Presiding over more than 60,000 criminal and civil cases to completion;
  • Touring New York State to speak to over 2,000 judges on the law and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their courtrooms;
  • Serving as an adjunct professor of law at Touro Law Center and the New York Institute of Technology.

Currently, he handles felony cases as the presiding judge of Suffolk County's Human Trafficking Court, which is addressing the scourge of sexual exploitation of women and young girls in Suffolk County.

The Independence Party is the largest third party political organization in the nation. It has more than 42,000 members in Suffolk County and over 14,500 members in the Town of Brookhaven.
