Police: Two Arrested In First BWI Checkpoint on Patchogue River

A Patchogue man was one of two people arrested at the first ever Boating While Intoxicated (BWI) Sobriety Checkpoint that was set up Saturday evening by Suffolk County Police on the Patchogue River near Sandspit Marina, says Suffolk County Police.

Michael Bacher, 49 of Patchogue, and Ana Marie O'Toole, 55 of Holbrook, were both charged with operating a vessel while in an intoxicated condition.

The checkpoint was run by SCPD's Marine Bureau and Highway Patrol Bureau from 6:50 p.m.-9 p.m.

Arraignments for Bacher and O'Toole are scheduled at First District Court in Central Islip for Monday.
