POLL: Are Parking Meters Good For Patchogue?

POLL: Are Parking Meters Good For Patchogue?
Parking meters have been in place in Patchogue Village since the beginning of the year but the debate over whether they are good for the Village, namely its business owners, is still going strong.

At a Village Board meeting last week, several business owners complained that the meters were driving away shoppers, according to a Newsday report

"I plead with you to rethink the metered parking in the lots," David Seigel, the owner of David's Shoe Emporium, told the board, according to Newsday. "This is a dangerous threat to our customers and livelihood."

But Mayor Paul Pontieri is standing behind the meters as the best way for the Village to raise funds to buy property for much-needed additional parking in the Village. The meters have already brought in more than $42,000 in revenue, Newsday reported.

Let's hear from you. Now that the meters have been in place on main roads and lots in the Village for several months, do you think they are good for Patchogue? Vote in the poll above and then share your thoughts in the comments section below.
