Security Guards to Patrol Pat-Med Elementary Schools Next Week

In the wake of the Friday's shooting at a Connecticut elementary school that killed 26 people, including 20 children, all elementary schools in the Patchogue-Medford School District will have a security guard in place on Monday, according to a call to parents from Superintendent Michael Locantore Friday evening.

The guards will remain in place through next week, Locantore said. The district's middle schools and high school already have security guards.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families in Connecticut who are dealing with this unspeakable tragedy," Locantore said in the call.
