The opened a local farmer's market in the front parking lot Tuesday, the start of a regular market to run through November on the last Tuesday of every month. Hospital officials say the market is a continuation of HVHC's healthy eating initiative and hopes to educate the community, hospital visitors, staff and patients on the value of eating fresh, natural food.
A volunteer committee set up the market and about 15 local vendors sell produce, cheese, bread, meat and other naturally-grown items. The market will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 28, Sept. 25 and Nov. 20.
