Hen Hud Fashion show a success.

Each spring, students at strut their stuff on the catwalk at the annual high school fashion show. The Fashion Show, in its 6th year, is sponsored by the Hendrick Hudson High School PTSA with all proceeds supporting academic scholarships for graduating seniors.

This year’s Fashion Show was the biggest production yet, under the direction of parents and community volunteers Jane Solnick and Sandra Ferguson. Since early February, Jane and Sandra have been working with over 100 high school students to put on this incredible event. From modeling to decorations to music and production work, students were involved in every aspect of this event.

“We had over 50 students modeling for us this year,” remarked Ferguson. “It is really incredible to see the growth of this event over the last several years.  The enthusiasm and excitement from all parts of the student body is fabulous.  Ferguson is the fashion guru behind the creative segments and inspired outfits during the show. “I really wanted to create an authentic experience for our students and community. We really paid lots of attention to details like set design, music selection and the narration,” she said.

This year’s event featured ten segments, ranging from “Popping with Color” to “Rock Star” to the finale “Frock the Party.” Over the course of the evening  52 students modeled over $50,000 in clothes, accessories and shoes all on loan from local retailers T.J. Maxx, Marshall’s, Marty’s Formal Wear, Caché and the personal collection of event co-chair, Sandra Ferguson.

“We were excited to see the increase in student interest and participation in this year’s show,” remarked Solnick. “It is always great to see such a diverse selection of the student body take part in the

This year’s event raised over $3,500 for the Hendrick Hudson High School PTSA. The PTSA will use the proceeds from the event for scholarship awards to graduating seniors. “We are very fortunate to have such dedicated parents and community members to come out and support our students and our schools,“ remarked High School Principal James Mackin. “We are all thankful for the hard work and time the fashion show committee donates to this event, but especially Sandra and Jane for their leadership and tireless efforts to support our students and make Hen Hud great.”
