Hendrick Hudson Elementary Math Nights Set to Kick Off October 16

For information you can count on!

Hendrick Hudson is kicking off the academic year with the first in a series of Elementary Math Nights, scheduled for Thursday, October 16, at the Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School. “One of our goals this year is to encourage parents from all three schools to attend all three math nights, since each will feature different topics,” said Principal Cynthia Kramer of the Furnace Woods School.

Math Nights are a proactive way for the district to help parents engage with the new math strategies that evolved from the Common Core Learning Standards. When parents feel more at ease with the new material, they are better able to help their children grasp the concepts that are required for both homework and classroom learning.

“Math night is a time for teachers and families to celebrate elementary mathematics in today’s classroom. Best practices emphasizing the curriculum and helpful suggestions to assist your child at home will be the focus,” said Belin Masterson, Math Facilitator for Hendrick Hudson.
