Where/When:
, 100 Bloomingdale Rd, White Plains; Wednesday, July 18; 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go:
The Veggiecation Program and Whole Foods Market in White Plains are working together so that kids have a busy and healthy summer. Using fresh summer fruits and veggies, kids will prepare green leaf salad with berries and balsamic vinaigrette and simple, nut-free basil pesto. Kids will be invited to help prepare Veggiecation Program’s recipes, sample culinary creations, experience vegetables in their raw form and cast a vote on how they liked the recipes. Kids will take home complimentary character coloring pages, word games, mazes and stickers.

2. Family Film Frenzy Presents "Cars"
Where/When:
, Weyman Avenue, New Rochelle, Wednesday, July 25 at 7 p.m.
Why go:
The Family Film Frenzy series at Westchester County Parks continues with a showing of Cars (2006, rated G) at Glen Island Beach Wednesday. The rain date is Thursday, July 26. The after-hours festivities offer an outdoor movie and swimming, which is permitted during daylight hours only. The park opens at 7 p.m. The movie begins at sundown. Bring picnic or purcase food at the concession stand. Bring blankets and chairs for seating. A Westchester Park Pass is not required for admission.

$5; free for children under 5.

3. Music with Mandy
Where/When:
, 1 Library Plz., New Rochelle, Friday, July 27; 11 a.m to noon.
Why go:
Mandy Jensen will engage and delight children and their parents/caregiver with her interactive songs and movements, in the Alphabet Garden on nice days, or theater if rainy. The event is for children ages 2 to 5 and will take place at inside the children’s room of the library.

4. Moonrise Kingdom
Where/When:
, Pelham, Friday, July 27, opens at 7:15 p.m.
Why go:
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore–and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in every which way. The movie is rated PG-13.
Pricing: General admission tickets cost $12 at the door and $9 in advance. Seniors, students and children pay $10 at the door and $8. Picture House members pay $5.

Glover Field Park,  Mt. Vernon, NY, Saturday, July 28, begins 7 a.m.
Why go:
The 7th Annual Strike Out ALS Softball Tournament at Glover Field in Pelham will feature an all day barbecue, a Steiner Sports silent auction and raffle items ranging from a flat screen television to  sporting event tickets. The event will also feature face painting and plenty of fun for the kids. Proceeds from the event will benefit the research Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Activities are planned all day.
