After living for more than 105 years, Plainview’s Sally Spiegelglas has quite the story to tell.
Brian Stoll, of West Islip, met Sally while he was working as a concierge in an assisted living community in Plainview and they quickly became friends. He created the documentary “Superstorm Sally” to share her story and to preserve Sally’s life for her family.

Plus, Sally isn’t your typical centenarian.

“It seems most videos I have found of centenarians on Youtube seem very frail and not fully with it, or unable to move independently,” Stoll told Patch.
Sally lived for a few years at Somerset Gardens in Plainview and then moved into her son’s Plainview home due to finances.
Stoll interviewed Sally from 2014 to 2015 and asked her questions about her life. (Watch the video below.)
Born 1910, Sally was born in America and moved back to Austria, where she lived until she was 10-years-old. She was brought back to New York once war broke out in Europe and her father went to war.
Sally’s mother and father died when they were 44 and 75, respectively. Her younger brother lived to be 100. Sally has two sons, ages 83 and 76. Stoll spoke to Sally’s oldest son, 83, who attributed his good health to his mother’s genes.
In, 2014, Stoll asked Sally how it felt to be 104.
“Old,” Sally said, laughing.
