Panera Bread Open Today in Plainview
Panera Bread opened its doors Monday morning in Plainview, including the first drive-thru café on Long Island.

The bakery-café has opened at 1082 Old Country Road just west of Manetto Hill Road and the Plainview Diner. It is the former site of the Burger King.

Jen Lauren tweeted Plainview Patch this message Monday morning: "Dear @panerabread - the new #panera #drivethru in Plainview got my iced coffee PERFECT. Happy Monday to all! :) @PlainviewPatch"

Company officials announced recently they will be hiring up to 60 people, a combination of full and part time positions.

The Plainview Panera will offer its regular menu of sandwiches, soup and seasonal selections. But the drive-thru will be a Long Island first.

The Plainview location will offer free Wi-Fi and the usual quality food choices and breads. The café will bring 60 new jobs to the area, company officials said Monday.
