Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car in Hicksville

A 60-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the street Friday evening in Hicksville, police said.

According to authorities, the woman was attempting to cross N. Broadway near the Nevada Street intersection when she was struck by a Honda Civic traveling northbound on N. Broadway at 5:40 p.m.

The pedestrian, a Hicksville resident, suffered multiple trauma injuries and was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later by a staff physician, police said.

The operator of the Honda Civic, a 59-year-old woman, was uninjured from the crash.

A brake and safety check was performed on the Honda at the scene of the crash and was released back to the driver.

Police do not suspect criminality and the name of the victim is being withheld at this time.
