The has is planning a major renovation in the near future.

The Y JCC kicked off their capital campaign on Sunday, unveiling their plans to renovate and refurbish the JCC.

For more than 50 years, the Mid-Island Y JCC has served thousands of people, from infants through seniors, who have participated in various programs and  services each year, regardless of their ability to pay.

But center officials, who were on hand for the announcement, described this as a "critical juncture in our history.

"We urgently need to renovate and expand our aging home so that we can better serve the community – today, tomorrow and for future generations," the group said in a statement.

To meet these needs, the JCC has embarked on a capital campaign.  A campaign that will:

  • Expand the Fitness Center
  • Create new spin and aerobic rooms
  • Renovate the locker rooms, lobby, Early Childhood wing and classrooms, as well as the auditorium.
  • Resurface the parking lot
  • Repair the roof
  • Procure new buses

To date, the board has raised $1.5 million toward the agency’s goal of $5 million which will provide the community with a state-of the-art facility that matches all the programming brought to the community each day.

We encourage you to become involved whether it is being a volunteer, attending one of our upcoming parlor meetings or becoming a donor.  With your help we have no doubt we will be successful in securing the future of the JCC.

The Mid-Island Y Jewish Community Center, established in 1956, serves Nassau and western Suffolk counties. More than 12,000 members and patrons benefit from the human services provided by the JCC. The Center is a UJA-Federation agency and also affiliated with the United Way of Long Island and provides more than $225,000 of scholarships to families in need.

The Center provides a full range of programs from toddler and preschool through senior citizen clubs and activities. You can visit their website here.
