Sundberg Shut Down Golden Knights in Complete Game Win

We thank the  Sports Information Department for the below submissions:

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke) tossed a complete game three-hitter as the Setters defeated the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose 3-1 in Northeast-10 Southwest Division action. Saint Rose scored in the opening inning for an early 1-0 lead but Sundberg did not surrender a run the rest of the way. The Setters got the offense going in the first as Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) reached on an error and stole second base. James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) drove in Roemer with a single to tie the game at one.

The Setters took the lead in the second as Joe Lombardi (Briarcliff, NY/Briarcliff) doubled and eventually scored as Roemer reached base on an error. Pace added an insurance run in the eighth as Robert Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) singled and moved to second on a sac bunt. Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) drove in Horn with a single for a 3-1 Setter lead.

Sundberg (3-2) was outstanding on the hill for the Setters as he allowed three hits in a complete game effort, while striking out six.
