Pleasantville MS Students Approached by 'Older Man'

Two local students students avoided a potentially dangerous situation this afternoon, Schools Superintendent Mary Fox-Alter said in a K-12 alert.

"Two middle school students were approached near the Dunkin Donuts on the corner of Washington and Manville by an older man with a beard and dark hair," she wrote. "He was driving an older white car with the words taxi 'hand painted' on the side. He asked the boys if they wanted a ride."

Fox-Alter said the news was reported to her by Pleasantville Police Chief Richard Love. The Chief was not immediately available to comment on the incident.

Fox-Alter said she feels the students "did the right thing" by leaving the area and reporting the incident to police.

"The police have sent information on this to other PDs," she wrote. "I applaud the students for implementing the stranger danger protocols. Please join us as we continue to review these with your children."
