A driver suffered a flat tire early last Saturday morning under unusual circumstances—he told police he struck an unattended motorcycle sitting in the middle of Scarborough Road, according to Briarcliff Manor Police.
The driver, an Ossining man, called police and requested officer and EMS assistance at the scene, near the intersection of Becker Lane at 4:28 a.m.
He also reported noticing a man in the shoulder of the road who appeared to be the motorcycle's operator.
Police responded to the scene and identified the injured motorcyclist as a 36-year-old Ossining resident. He appeared to be semi-conscious and suffered a head injury in an accident.
The man was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he was also arrested by police for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
The car and motorcycle involved in the accident were taken to police headquarters pending an investigation. The motorcyclist's cell phone was also taken by police.
In addition to the DWI charge, he received "numerous summonses," police said. He is due back in Briarcliff Manor Justice Court on October 10.
An update on the man's injuries was not immediately available.
