Port Chester Passes Law Restricting Dog Tethering

The legislation applies to other animals, but is aimed primarily at canines.

Now in Port Chester you can walk your dog on a lease, but you can’t tie it up on a tether and leave it there.

Village trustees passed legislation April 18 that prohibits tying up animals, primarily dogs, and leaving them unattended outside for long periods of time, according to an article at lohud.com.

There are exemptions to the law, including the owner being on premises and access to food and water.
