Problem at Abandoned Home Leads to Drug Arrest in Port Chester

An investigation of a complaint of trespassers at an abandoned home in Port Chester led to the arrest of a village resident on a drug possession charge, according to Port Chester Police.

Police said a village officer checking a home on Glendale Place spotted two men coming from the house at about 9:15 p.m. on Sunday. As the officer approached them, police said, one of the men ran off.

James Garcia, 22, of 3 Ridgeview Place, Port Chester, was questioned by police. Lt. James Ladeairous said that in the process officers found several bags of marijuana on Garcia.

Garcia was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. He was later released pending a March 11 hearing in Port Chester Village Court.

Ladeairous said the second person involved in the incident was stopped by police. Francesco Maldonado, 23, of 465 N. Main St., Port Chester, was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor, for running away. He faces a Feb. 25 hearing.
