Port Jefferson resident Pat Darling works in gingerbread and whipped cream like Rembrandt works in oils. She has spent two weeks turning in the into a magical treat with her elaborate gingerbread houses.

Each room in the house has been transformed into special vignettes of Christmas and Darling's custom made confectionery pieces will be on display all weekend.

According to village spokesperson, Jill Russell, one of the pieces is a reproduction of the historic of Stony Brook village and another is a gingerbread house, complete with a sugar cookie Santa Claus. Both of the works of art feature detailed work with royal icing and sugar crystal trees.

"It took her eight days to make the gingerbread house and two weeks to make the Stony Brook cottage," Russell said.

She said that Darling has "vast experience in the food industry and has been featured in magazines for her confection work."
