In addition to Comsewogue School District, which reported earlier on Sunday that no classes would be held on Monday, Port Jefferson and Mt. Sinai School Districts decided to cancel Monday classes as well, as crews continue to deal with two feet of snow that fell on the area Friday night.
Some residents on Sunday afternoon had reported that they had yet to see a plow make a single pass up their street, and First District Town Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld had even written a note to Town Supervisor Ed Romaine asking what the town is planning on doing to speed up recovery.
"My own local neighborhood still lies buried, frozen and snowbound and my area was without electric (and therefore without heat as well) until very late last night," wrote Fiore-Rosenfeld, a Setauket resident.
Comsewogue Board of Education President John Swenning said on Facebook that the conditions are not fair to send buses out into: "The roads are just not passable and it will be not safe to put our students on the roads."
