PW Library Foundation Prepares for Annual Fund
Members of the PW Library Foundation Board recently met to discuss plans for the 2014 Annual Fund.

The Port Washington Library Foundation funds cultural enrichment programs and outreach services coordinated by the Advisory Councils. Artist exhibitions, Children’s programming, Nautical displays and Health presentations, make the Port Washington Public Library (PWPL) much more than just a “building with books.”
Library Foundation-funded programming offered at the PWPL this year has included,
- -The Children’s Advisory Council will present it’s popular day-after-Thanksgiving family concert with award-winning singer/songwriter, Long Island native, and 2009 Grammy nominee, Brady Rymer.
- -The Health Advisory Council presented, “Adolescent Angst: How to Handle Your Adolescent’s Moods and Mental Health”. Mental health experts shared their experiences treating adolescents with anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.
- -The Art Advisory Council sponsored an exhibition of acclaimed American contemporary realist landscape artist Marla Lipkin’s, “Pathway to the Sea.”
- -The ever-popular Manhasset Bay Boat tours were offered by the Nautical Advisory Council, as well as a photo display and artifacts from the Ginger Marshall Martus collection.
- -The Music Advisory Council sponsored acclaimed cellist Jay Campbell who performed an eclectic musical repertoire including Debussy, Stravinsky, and Brahms.

The PW Library Foundation serves as a fund management and fundraising organization with the sole aim of supporting the Library. Serving as its development arm, the Foundation fulfills the Library trustees’ requests to fund a variety of needs and opportunities which are not covered by the taxpayer-approved budget. http://www.pwpl.org/libraryfoundation.
