The health center of Nassau County’s first and only true life care senior living community is one of the 2014 Best Nursing Homes in the U.S., according to U.S. News & World Report. The Tuttle Center at The Amsterdam at Harborside in Port Washington received five stars on the annual report.
The report rated communities throughout the U.S. on health inspections, nurse staffing, quality measures, fire safety and penalties. This is the sixth year U.S. News & World Report has published the list, which includes ratings for more than 15,000 nursing centers throughout the country.
“We’re very proud of this distinction and of our staff members at The Tuttle Center, who work tirelessly to ensure our residents receive the best possible care available,” said executive director Sam Guedouar.
The Tuttle Center offers a full spectrum of on-site care services, including enriched housing, which is commonly known as assisted living; memory care; skilled nursing and rehabilitative services. The services are provided in affiliation with the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, one of the largest health care providers in the nation.
Health services at The Tuttle Center are available to The Amsterdam’s independent living residents, who have priority access, but are also available to members of the community at large in need of immediate assistance.
“The Amsterdam’s independent living residents have peace of mind and security in knowing that they have priority access and predictable rates for care at a top-rated health center, should they ever need it,” said Guedouar. “For residents of Long Island who are in need of short- or long-term care right away, The Tuttle Center is somewhere they can receive care that is focused on them, and where they can enjoy the dining, amenities and activities that make The Amsterdam a wonderful place to live.”
The Tuttle Center at The Amsterdam at Harborside has provided quality care for Long Island seniors for the past three years.
