Police Blotter: Gunpoint Mugging on St. Johns Place

Gunpoint Mugging on St. Johns Place

A 30-year-old man was held up by a gun-wielding thief who stole his backpack containing more than $1,000 in clothing and electronics.

The victim was getting out of his car in front of 365 St. Johns Place on Friday, May 4 at 2:10 a.m. when he was approached by the man who showed him a gun and said, “Give me your backpack,” according to a police report. The thief grabbed the bag and drove off in a black SUV, according to a police report.

 

Bike-Riding Thief Botches iPhone Snatch

A bicycle-riding man grabbed woman’s iPhone out of her hand at the corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and Park Place, but the woman was able to get the phone back after the man fell and dropped it. The incident took place on Wednesday, April 18 at 11:25 a.m., according to a police report.

 

Snatched iPhone Tracked to Area Bodega

A 38-year-old woman reported that someone grabbed her iPhone from her hand as she was getting into her car. The woman had an iPhone tracker activated on the phone was cops were able to track down the phone to Franklin Mini Mart at 835 Franklin Ave. at Union Street, where the thief had sold it. The theft took place at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 on Lincoln Place between Underhill and Washington avenues, according to a police report.  

 

Bar Top Laptop Snatch

A 38-year-old man reported that someone grabbed his Apple PowerBook from the bar at after he left it for a moment while he withdrew money from an ATM. The theft took place between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 at the bar, located on Vanderbilt between St. Marks and Prospect places, according to a police report.

 

Coffee Shop Tip Jar Grab

Someone snatched a tip jar with about $30 to $40 in it off the counter of a Franklin Avenue coffee shop. The cash snatch took place at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at The Pulp and The Bean between Lincoln Place and Eastern Parkway, according to a police report.
