Crimes Nearby: Driver Hits Southold Fish Market, Charged With DWI

The following information was supplied by various East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

The drivers of two cars that got in a fender bender on Dune Road on Dec. 13 were both charged with crimes.
According to Westhampton Beach police, after the accident, the drivers got into a verbal dispute that lead to weapon threats.
Arriving on the scene, police say they charged Brian Hills, 36, of Center Moriches with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing, both misdemeanors.
Police said they found a pipe in his car.
The driver of the second vehicle, Louis, Pirozzi, 53, of Center Moriches, was charged with harassment, a violation.

Michael Zervos, 46, of Holiday, Fla., was charged with driving while intoxicated on Dec. 22 on 5:17 p.m. after Zervos failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway while he drove a 2006 Toyota east on Route 25 in Greenport, police said. Zervoz left the roadway and struck a road sign and a utility pole, then continued eastbound for a short distance, crossed the roadway and stuck a guardrail. This impact turned the car back in an westbound direction where it eventually came to rest against the foundation of the Southold Fish Market, police said.

Zervos was arrested for DWI, transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for medical evaluation and then taken to police headquarters in Peconic to be processed and held for arraignment. Route 25 was closed for several hours while LIPA repaired the broken utility pole, police said.

East Hampton Village police are investigating who was behind the wheel of a sport utility that crashed on Friday.
An officer on routine patrol said he found a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the woods on the north side of Montauk Highway just east of Stephen Hands Path at about 7:40 p.m. The Jeep had hit a utility pole before crashing into trees about 15 feet off the roadway.
The Jeep was unoccupied.
