One of Riverhead's most beloved fall traditions will be back for the 32nd year this weekend.
The 32nd Hallockville Fall Festival unfolds on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. at the , featuring hay rides, a tractor pull, a crafts fair, traditional folk artists, over 50 vendors, and fun for the entire family.
“Hallockville’s Fall Festival celebrates Long Island’s agricultural heritage and craft artists,” Executive Director Herb Strobel said. “It’s a great event for the entire family, with activities for all ages such as hay rides, scarecrow building, and a ‘little farmer’s’ relay race.”
The annual event is a fundraiser for the non-profit Museum Farm, and spotlights old fashioned-fun and handcrafted items including wood carvings, soap, candles, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, rugs and children's books.
Artisans onhand will also educate crowds about their craft; demonstrations by the Smithtown Stitchers, East End Classic Boat Society, Eastern Long Island Quilting Guild and the Basket Weavers Guild of Eastern Long Island will be featured.
In addition, the Peconic Ruggers annual handmade rug show that will be ongoing in the1937 Naugles Barn.
The festival will spotlight the area's agricultural heritage, with a display of tractors and other machinery by the Long Island Antique Power Association, which will also offer tractor pulls. Farm animals, showcased by the East End Livestock and Horseman's Association, will also be onhand -- and for train enthusiasts, the Railroad Museum of Long Island will exhibit a working model train.
Also spotlighted will be Jack Combs, a Long Island decoy carver, who will open his 120-year old workshop for the festival.
The event will also feature music from Eastbound Freight and a selection of food and beverage vendors; wine and beer will also be sold.
Advance tickets can be purchased at www.hallockville.com/fftickets.html at discounted rates through Friday. At-the-door admission rates are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and children under age 12, or a family/group pass for $18 which is valid for four people with a maximum of two adults.
