Race to Benefit Wellness Programs at Eastern Long Island Hospital

All Waiters to Your Stations Please!

The 3rd Annual North Fork Waiter Race will kick-off in Greenport on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10 at the Market, 44 Front Street.

This is the third annual event where waiters must reach a finish line by walking as quickly as possible without droppping a stemmed glass on a serving tray. Zico Coconut Water will provide the libations.

“As the owner of a health food market since 1987, I believe we can all be our ‘best’ through good nutrition and regular exercise,” said Shelley Scoggin, owner of the Market. “I invite everyone to get involved. The event is lots of fun for both participants and spectators.  We are very fortunate to have ELIH at the heart of our community, providing top-rated care.”

The Great Waiter Race is based on a traditional race that began in Paris in 1904 to recognize the hospitality industry.  The concept has grown in popularity since its early beginnings.  Races now take place in more than 750 cities around the world.  (for details see www.waitersrace.com)

The entry feel is $50 and must be received no later than than 5 pm on May 16, 2014. Participants are encouraged to approach sponsors to raise additional funds.  All funds raised will be divided between Eastern Long Island Hospital and the first, second and third prize winners of the race. The monitored race will kick-off at the Eastern Long Island Hospital Opportunity Shop on Main Street and finish in front of the market.  For more information, contact The Market, 631.477.8803
