'A Total Loss': LI Home, Vehicle Destroyed In Massive Fire | PD

The fire broke out Friday afternoon in Calverton, officials say.

CALVERTON, NY — A home and pickup truck were completely destroyed in a massive Calverton fire Friday afternoon, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, a 911 call came in at 1:29 p.m. about a vehicle fire in the driveway of a home on Middle Road.

Upon arrival, the responding officer found a 2022 Ford pick-up truck on fire, police said.

The fire quickly spread to the residence ,rendering both the vehicle and residence "a total loss," police said.

The two occupants of the residence and their dog were able to exit the home prior to the fire spreading, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective squad and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad determined the fire to be non-criminal in nature, with the fire originating in the bed of the vehicle from an unknown source, police said.
