Van Erupts Into Flames In Calverton

One person was brought to a local hospital, firefighters say.

Calverton, NY — A van erupted into flames after a crash in Calverton Tuesday, firefighters said.

According to Wading River Fire Department Deputy Chief Branden Heller, firefighters responded at 3:50 p.m. to Middle Country Rd. after a report of a crash with a vehicle fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly extinguished a fully involved van fire without incident, Heller said. One person who was in the vehicle was treated and transported by Wading River Fire Dept. Ambulance to a local hospital, he added.

The scene was turned over to the Riverhead Police Dept. and the New York State Department of Transportation, Heller said.
