Lowey Nominates Dobbs Resident, Ardsley Student, to West Point

United States Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland) nominated several county students to the United States service academies in March—including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Accepted

  • Kevin Chen, a Dobbs Ferry resident and student at Ardsley High School was accepted, at the United States Military Academy, West Point.

According to admissions.usma.edu, West Point Director of Admissions Colonel Deborah J. McDonald:

West Point affords a top-notch education and world-class leadership training, so our graduates have the knowledge and skills necessary to be the effective leaders that Soldiers in America’s Army deserve. We seek superb, well-rounded candidates for admission. We evaluate more than just academics; in addition to getting good grades and SAT/ACT scores, the successful candidate also demonstrates leadership ability and physical fitness.

West Point has only a 13 percent acceptance rate.

Congratulations to Kevin Chen!
