Pedestrian Struck on Morris Avenue

Accident has shut down the road between Sunrise and Merrick Road.

A female pedestrian was struck by a car on Morris Avenue Thursday afternoon, Rockville Centre Police confirmed.

The accident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Morris Avenue between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road. Morris Avenue was shut down between those two roadways due to an established crime scene.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

The accident marks the third pedestrian hit in the area within the last week and the second near Merrick Road. An 84-year-old Rockville Centre resident was killed crossing Merrick Road last Thursday after he was struck by a tractor-trailer.

A 33-year-old woman was killed Wednesday night while crossing Grand Avenue in Baldwin.
