Linking Handlebars Rolls into Gear Again this Holiday Season

Linking Handlebars Rolls into Gear Again this Holiday Season Linking Handlebars Rolls into Gear Again this Holiday Season

Linking Handlebars, a charitable organization started by four Rye High School students in 2012, has made its presence felt once again this holiday season at the Don Bosco Center in Port Chester –distributing 60 bicycles and helmets to children ranging from 4 to 16 years old; along with bringing happiness, excitement and holiday spirit to not only the children, but parents too.

The founders of the group, Jenna Cammisa, Bridget Salice, and Lucia and Cristiana Villani, collect gently used bikes and cash donations to purchase new bikes for underprivileged children.

Linking Handlebars was able to meet its goal through generous donations, a raffle event, as well as the support of several local businesses and individuals including: Larchmont Bicycles, Danny's Bicycles, Huffy Bikes, Westy's of Port Chester, Dean Errigo, Bill Brody, Matthew Donaghy and several Rye High School volunteers.

You can support Linking Handlebars in continuing their mission to gift the next 26 bikes to children at the Carver Center in January 2014 by making a cash donation:

·       $20 can provide one helmet;

·       $30 can repair one bicycle

·       $75 can purchase a new child’s bicycle;

·       $100 can purchase a new teen bicycle

A donation of a gently used bicycle is also welcome.  Donations can be mailed to PO Box 75, Rye, NY 10580 or by visiting www.linkinghandlebars.org.

Linking Handlebars is a not-for profit organization committed to promoting healthier lifestyles for children in need through the gift of a bicycle. They collect gently used bicycles and cash donations to purchase new bicycles and helmets and to refurbish used bicycles. They provide children the opportunity to experience all the benefits of cycling including exercise, transportation, and enjoyment of the great outdoors.
