Rye Police received a number of reports from residents robbed of items left in their cars.

Rye Police Lt. Joseph Verille said the possibility of a connection between four cases of thefts from parked cars, some in close proximity to each other since September 30, is "unknown at this time." Three cases occurred on September 30 and another was reported on October 3.

At 11:10 a.m. on Friday, September 30, a resident on Sanford St. reported cash, and iPod Touch and auxiliary cable taken from an unlocked car parked overnight in their driveway.

Soon after, police received took a report from a resident who parked their car near High St. and Maple Ave. overnight. When the driver returned to her car, her purse inside was turned over and her wallet missing. 

Also on that day, a man discovered his wallet with important papers, driver’s license and credit card missing from his car around noon. Personal papers, a credit card and $22.

Two people on Bulkley Manor reported a theft from their car on Monday, October 3. An iPod, iPhone and diamond earrings valued at $1,500 were taken from one person; a gold necklace worth $1200 belonging to a second woman was also taken from an unlocked car at their residence.

Update:  was completed and the animal did not have the virus.
