A message from Steve Otis for State Assembly campaign.

Otis Endorsed By Rye Police Benevolent Association

RYE, NY – October 9, 2012 - Steve Otis’s campaign announced today that the Rye Police Benevolent Association has endorsed former City of Rye Mayor Steve Otis for State Assembly.

In announcing the endorsement, Rye Police Benevolent Association President Franco Compagnone stated, “ It is with great pleasure and honor that the Rye Police Benevolent Association throw our full political support behind, Steve Otis, for New York State Assembly.”

“As employees of the city of Rye, the members of the Rye PBA have had the privilege of working with Steve Otis in his capacity as mayor and in that experience he earned great respect and admiration from us. We were greatly impressed by his professionalism and he shown great concern for our members needs and that of the community as a whole. His selflessness to the Rye community that he has served for over 10 years is highly commendable and inspiring. Steve’s dedication and hard work will promote a healthy and positive environment in the NYS Assembly.”

In thanking the Rye PBA for their endorsement, Otis commented, “ The endorsement of the Rye PBA is of great importance and meaning to me. I know first hand of the high level of dedication and commitment of the City of Rye police officers. They are dedicated to protecting the public and serving the community. I know of their courage and professionalism. Their support is of great significance.”

Otis served as Mayor of the City of Rye for twelve years from 1998-2009. During that time, a major focus was emergency management and response. Otis led Rye’s Project Impact program, a FEMA initiative to make communities better prepared for natural disasters. When Otis served as President of the Westchester Municipal Officials Association (2005-06) one of his major initiatives was to improve coordination between municipalities and the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services. Otis continues to be an active member of the WMOA Executive Committee where he has served since 2002.

Otis is running for the 91st Assembly District representing Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Port Chester, Rye Brook, the City of Rye and about half of the City of New Rochelle.
