The two women accused of stealing $700 worth of clothing from Rhythm in Rye last Friday returned to the scene of the alleged crime Wednesday and found themselves in handcuffs.

Rhythm in Rye owner Renee Drummond recognized them immediately from the security tapes where she watched them stuff three expensive items into a purse. She grabbed the phone and called 911.

“I guess they did so good, they came back,” Drummond joked. They had already visited a few other Purchase Street stores before showing up at Rhythm, Drummond said.

The two women, whose identification have not yet been released, were arrested on Nov. 21 and each charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

They were released on $250 bail each and are due in Rye City Court on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 9 a.m., said Detective Chittenden.

“I didn’t want to press charges, I just wanted to get stuff back and tell them I forgave them. I am also a life coach, so I wanted to ask them why they are doing that,” Drummond said. But Drummond decided to press charges once she learned that otherwise she would have to take the two women to civil court.
