Crime Report: Hard Partying Teens, Angry Texting

A list of incidents and arrests in Holtsville and Ronkonkoma last week as reported by the 5th Precinct.

Crime Report: Hard Partying Teens, Angry Texting

The following information is directly from the Suffolk County Police Department's media incidents list .

Holtsville

  • Police responded to an assault complaint on Long Island Avenue on January 13. According to the caller, there was an out-of-control party going on and a large group of teens shouting in the streets at around 1:30 a.m.
  • Police responded to a harassment call on Cheshire Drive at around 10 p.m. on January 5
  • A harassment call was placed to police on January 11 at around 9:30 p.m. The female caller said she was being abused by her boyfriend on Sylvan Drive, and then abruptly hung up the phone.
  • Police responded to a criminal mischief call on Waverly Avenue on January 6 at 10 p.m. The complainant said damage had been done to the window of a vehicle at that location.
  • No arrests were made for serious offenses in Holtsville this week.

Ronkonkoma

  • Police responded to a criminal mischief complain on Portion Road on January 12 at 9:50 p.m. According to the call, the complainant had just discovered the windows of his Jeep Cherokee had been smashed.
  • A similar call for criminal mischief was made on January 10 on Portion Road. In this case the caller, a female, claimed damage was done to her red Nissan Maxima at around 6:30 a.m.
  • Police responded to a grand larceny call on Carroll Avenue on January 10 at around 5:15 p.m. According to the complaint a woman's pocketbook was stolen from her place of business.
  • Police responded to a criminal mischief complaint after a caller said someone had turned on the electric meter and power at a location on Weichers Avenue on January 7. The call came in at around 8 a.m.
  • Police answered a harassment call on Lincoln Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. on January 8. According to the call, the complainant kept receiving death threats from an ex-worker via text message.
  • Floyd Richard Melton, of Ronkonkoma was arrested in Bohemiia on January 12 for criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of marijuana.
  • James Hytner, of Ronkonkoma was arrested in Saint James on January 8 for 2nd degree grand larceny of property worth more than $50,000.
