Holbrook FD Helps Deliver Baby In Holtsville Home

Two members of the Holbrook Fire Department got to play midwife for a day after helping a Suffolk County Police officer deliver a woman's baby at her home in Holtsville today.

First Assistant Chief Richard Stack, Holbrook Fire Department Paramedic Chris Colletti and Fifth Precinct Police Officer Christine Balsamo were called to the Blue Point Road home after a man identified as Seth Grossman called 911 to report that his wife, Elena Grossman, was in labor.

When the three arrived there was no time to transport her to the hospital. Stack, Colletti and Balsamo delivered the baby girl right there in the home, and subsequently transferred Grossman to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.

Both mom and baby Hannah are listed in good condition.
