Leg. Muratore Seeking Nominations For 'Woman of Distinction'

Representative of LD 4 asking for the public's help nominating a woman from the district for award ceremony in March.

Leg. Muratore Seeking Nominations For 'Woman of Distinction'

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Muratore is asking for the community's help in identifying a woman that lives in the 4th district for the legislature's "Woman of Distinction" Award.

Each legislator in the 18 districts will nominate one woman in their district for the award. After the pool has been narrowed to 18, the Suffolk County Women's Advisory Commission will choose one nominee to receive the award at a general meeting held on March 13.

“I encourage all of my constituents to nominate a candidate for this prestigious award,” Legislator Muratore said in a statement. “There are many deserving women out there, and your input can help us properly acknowledge those who serve so selflessly.”

The award seeks to recognize women who have "demonstrated leadership, involvement and commitment to her community," according to a release.

The 4th LD is comprised of Farmingville, Holbrook, Lake Ronkonkoma, Lake Grove, the Brookhaven portion of Ronkonkoma, Medford, Port Jefferson, Selden, Centereach and Coram.

Muratore is asking those interested in nominating someone from the district to submit an application of nomination by Friday, January 25. To obtain an application, contact Muratore's office by phone (631) 854-9292, fax (631) 854-9351 or email at tom.muratore@suffolkcountyny.gov.
