The Nesconset-Sachem Civic Association has organized a meeting at the Nesconset Public Library tonight to discuss the future of the property once occupied by the Bavarian Inn, a celebrated lakeside restaurant in Lake Ronkonkoma.
The meeting will take place at the library at 6:30 tonight, and will discuss Suffolk County's proposal to turn the property into a park in a move that will join the Walter S. Commerdinger Jr. Park with the Lake Ronkonkoma County Park.
As the county seeks to move forward with the property, restoring it to parkland similar to Commerdinger Park and the 90-acre Lilly Pond Park, the Nesconset-Sachem Civic Association would like to have their input taken into account.
Suffolk County Legislator John Kennedy will be in attendance at the meeting as well as Nesconset-Sachem Civic President Fred Gorman. According to the organization's event flyer, life-long residents Paul Albert and Mike Fallacara of the Walter S. Commerdinger Jr. Preservation Society, Inc, will present a slide show and update attendees on the parks, which includes recruiting volunteers for the Bavarian Inn project.
